Freeman Days....

Have you ever had one of those days when all that "little stuff" starts to just drive you crazy???  You burn your tongue on your coffee that morning.  You get behind the slowest Sunday-driver on your way to work.  Your salad is made with onions, even though you specifically ordered it without.  And somehow, you manage to have to follow that SAME driver on the way home?!!!

I have those kinds of days a LOT.  We teasingly say that it's a family curse, brought on by my dad's side of the family... if something is going to go wrong, it will happen to him.  We've affectionately labeled those days... "Freeman days."  My sister will call me, and exclaim, "I'm having a Freeman day!"  I don't have to ask.  I know exactly what she's talking about.  :)  Now, my mother, of course, is graced with green lights ALL the time.  Sales people make rule exceptions for her, that the person behind her could NEVER get away with requesting.  She kind of just coasts.

What's the difference?  Is it really some kind of cosmic joke?  Well, of course not.  It doesn't ONLY run in my family.  I think it's usually God's way of subtly trying to teach us (those of us who are a little less blessed in the area of having patience) to slow down and let Him be in control.

My mom bought me a little plaque one time that said, "Don't Sweat The Small Stuff."

My husband is notorious for quoting to me, "Honey, in the GRAND scheme of things, is this really a big deal?"

God has blessed me by surrounding me with people who remind me not to get wrapped up in the details... to look at the big picture.

And guess what?  It has helped!  A TON!  I don't wig out nearly like I used to, about trivial matters.  I still have a long way to go, but I'm on the road to recovery.  :)

I snapped some snapshots of my siblings (my fellow patience-learners... really, aren't we all?... at least, to SOME degree. :))

I love laughing with them.  :)

Sis #1.  My mom was playing with her hair.  :)

Sis #2.  I think she was laughing at my brother.

Bro #1.  Deep in conversation.

Sis #3 (Bro #1's wife... she's just one of us!).
Looking at my brother adoringly.... or something like that.  :)

Bro #2.  Giving me an evil eye for having my camera out... AGAIN.  :)
Ha!  They love me... No, really.

  1. I loved that Laura! I had no idea you liked to write. I guess it's that creative gene of yours - always looking lovely, an eye for what the camera sees and an ability to express your heart!

Hope you have a mom kind of day and not a Freeman Day!!
